Knights of Columbus Council Announces Officers for Columbian Year 2024-2025

The local Knights of Columbus Council16255 is pleased to announce its elected officers for the upcoming Columbian Year 2024-2025. These dedicated individuals will lead our council in its mission of charity, unity, and fraternity starting July 1, 2024.

Elected on June 9, 2024, the new officer roster is as follows:

  • Grand Knight: Mario Zappia
  • Deputy Grand Knight: James Hunter
  • Financial Secretary: Matt Berger
  • Chancellor: Timothy Discar
  • Treasurer: Ralph Cadriel
  • Advocate: Alex Knobloch
  • Recorder: Ryanjay (RJ) Calungcaguin
  • Warden: Derrick L. Bell
  • Inside Guard: Danny Couture
  • Outside Guard: Lionel Domulot

The council’s Trustees for the coming year will be:

  • 3 Year Trustee: Dennis Tremethick
  • 2 Year Trustee: Brian Perley
  • 1 Year Trustee: Tom Smith

Additionally, Jay Salazar will serve as the council’s Lecturer.

These officers bring a wealth of experience and dedication to their roles. Under their leadership, the council looks forward to continuing its work in supporting our parish, community, and the broader initiatives of the Knights of Columbus.

The official installation of these officers will take place during a special ceremony on July 9th, 2024. This event will mark the formal beginning of their term and provide an opportunity for council members and the community to show their support for the incoming leadership.

We extend our congratulations to the newly elected officers and express our gratitude for their willingness to serve. May their efforts in the coming Columbian Year bring forth abundant fruits in charity and fellowship.

Holy Mass of the Feast of Corpus Christi 2024

At St. Joseph Parish during the noon Holy Mass of the Feast of Corpus Christi on Sunday, June 2, 2024, the Knights of Columbus publicly proclaimed belief in Jesus’ True Presence in the Eucharist, by Participating in their Eucharistic Procession. 

 The Fourth Degree ALTIMIRA Assembly 51 provided four Honor Guards and the Canopy used during the procession – Honor Guard Captain George Bagley, David Dawa, Alex Bernardo, and Cecilio Rondolos. 

 The St. Joseph the Protector Council 16255 provided several Knights who participated as part of the procession – Mario Zappia, James Hunter, Jerry Chu, Robert Bailey, Jimmy (the elder) Peerson, and Jimmy (the younger) Spalding. Your Grand Knight assisted Fr Joshy and photographed the event. 

 Hundreds of parishioners joined the short procession honoring our Lord during this Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. Alleluia! Amen

California State Convention 2024

Our Grand Knight and his Lovely Lady, Edith, attended the California State Convention in Visalia, CA, on May 19, 2024. The GK participated in the morning ceremonies, including the Parade of Grand Knights, where each California Council donates to the California Columbian Charities, also known as the 365 Club, which aids Brother Knights who are suffering financial hardship. Lady Edith attended the fun Lady’ s Mad Hatter Tea Luncheon with Knight’s Ladies.

During lunch, the GK spent time with our incoming District Deputy, Jesus (Jesse) Palapas, from Travis AFB St. Michael Council # 15625, and Bret Taly, incoming GK of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Council #15499 in Fairfield, CA.

In the afternoon, the GK received five (5) State Awards on behalf of our council. Two First Place plaques, one for our Faith in Action Community efforts and one for the Best KofC Website in California! Yeah! We also received two second-place State Awards for our Faith in Action Family and Life efforts and a fourth-place recognition for our Faith in Action Faith programs. These are a tribute to the hard work and dedication of our active Officers and Knights to the Lord, our Church, and St. Joseph Parish in this Columbian Year. THANK YOU!

Retired Bishop Armando Xavier Ochoa of Fresno Diocese led a Eucharistic Procession on the grounds of the Convention Center, after which he Celebrated Holy Mass with our Knights’ families.

In the evening, we ended with a banquet that was attended and enjoyed by all.

Celebrating Motherhood, Brotherhood, and Community: Council 16255’s Heartwarming Gathering

The Knights and Families of Council 16255 ended a fabulous year of service with a fabulous Mother’s Day Celebration. Everyone contributed their food, their labor, and their love as we gathered in the Knight’s Room on May 15, 2025. It was a wonderful evening of fun and fellowship.

We honored the Knight of the Month, Lionel Domulot and his wonderful family as Family of the Month.

We also held the final round of nominations for the Columbian Year 2024-2025 officers. Good luck gentlemen.

He is Risen! Experience the Love at Our Easter Life Workshop

Let’s all gather together and examine the happiness of our Lord’s resurrection in the “He has Risen in Love a Happy Easter” workshop. Edith and I attended the first workshop and it was fantastic. The Holy Spirit is truly alive and Brother Jay.

If you miss the first one, not a problem. Next Saturday in the church meeting room at 1:00 PM and learn how to ingrain the love of our Lord into our daily lives.

Council 16255 Columbian Year 2024-2025 Election Schedule

Our worthy Advocate, Alex Knobloch, is working behind-the-scenes to make the CY 23-24 officer nomination and election run smoothly and slowly coax it into the 21st Century.

The Grand Knight believes in setting up our incoming officers for Success and wanted to give the incoming officer a chance to meet and prepare for the new year before taking office.
However, the bylaws require the election to be completed before June 15th. So, this is not possible with our normal schedule of meetings.

Incoming officers will formally meet on July 9, 2024, after Installation. New officers are encouraged to meet before hand to select Committee Chairmen and make preliminary decisions ahead of Installation.

Reservations for the 2nd Tuesday (Leaders Meeting) and 3rd Wednesday (General Meeting) are completed.

KofC Patriotic Rosary

Assembly 3557 conducts a monthly Patriotic Rosary on the first Saturday of each month at 0830 hours via Zoom.  The next Patriotic Rosary is scheduled for Saturday, Mary 4th.

Star Council Recognition for 16255

Lovely Ladies and Brother Knights.

With a humble heart, I thank our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with the intercession of our Blessed Mother Mary and our Patron Saint Joseph, for our awesome Knights of Columbus Council.

Through our blessings from Heaven and your sacrifice, dedication, and hard work, St. Joseph the Protector Council 16255 earned the STAR COUNCIL Award for Columbian Year 2023-2024.

The Knights of Columbus Star Council Award is an annual recognition given to councils that excel across several areas, including membership recruitment and retention, insurance promotion, and the conduct of well-rounded service program activities. To earn the Star Council Award, our council met specific criteria and benchmarks set by the Supreme Council. These criteria included:

  1. Achieving our membership quota for the fraternal year
  2. Achieving our insurance quota
  3. Submitting the required reports and forms on time
  4. Conducting programs from each of the Faith in Action program categories (Faith, Family, Community, and Life)
  5. Complying with the rules and regulations of the Order

The Star Council Award is considered one of the highest honors a Knights of Columbus council can achieve. It recognizes the council’s commitment to the principles of the Order – Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism – and their dedication to serving their church, community, and fellow members through various initiatives and programs.

The California State Deputy called us and gave his Congratulations to our outstanding council.

We made the list with 2 months to spare.
